How do I open an account?
Direct Trader offer a number of different account types. Each is listed below with details on how to apply. For more information on the account type you are interested in please click the name of the account.
Direct Trader Account: You can apply online. Alternatively you can contact us on 0808 208 4400and speak to one of our representatives will be able to take your application.
Self Select ISA: You can apply online. Alternatively you can contact us on 0808 156 6000 and one of our representatives will you through the application. You can also request a call back so you can ask any questions you may have about our service. If you already have a Trading Account the easiest way to add an ISA account is to login and go to maintenance/ Account Updates.
Monthly Portfolio Builder : You can apply online. Alternatively you can contact us on 0808 156 6000 one of our representatives will take you through the application. If you have any questions about our service you can also request a call back.
Trust Account: The Trust account allows trustees to deal in a range of investment options on behalf of their beneficiaries in the name of the trust.

Executors/Administrators Account: The Executors/Administrators Account allows executors and/or administrators to manage assets on behalf of an estate by trading in a diverse range of investment options.

Overseas Residents Trading Account: If you live outside the UK you will need an Overseas Residents Trading Account. This account carries the same features as our nominee account
In order to open an account you will need to complete the Overseas Resident Trading Application form along with the Overseas Resident Trading Application Part B form.
If you would like to trade in warrants and/or covered warrants such as securitised derivatives you will also need to complete either the Verification of Identity (EU) form or the Verification of Identity (non-EU) form. You will also need documentation to confirm your name and address (such as passport and utility bill). These need to be endorsed by a regulated intermediary (such as a bank financial advisor Accountant Solicitor or Notary Public).

Investment Club Account: This is an account if you and a group of people want to get together to pool your money and then invest collectively in the stockmarket. To request an Investment Club Account application form please telephone us on 0808 156 6000.
Non-UK National Account: If you live in the UK but do not hold a UK passport you will need a Non-UK National Account. This account carries the same features as our Nominee Accounts.
